Our competition isn’t about buying validation or collecting another meaningless badge. It’s about connecting powerful stories with the people who can help bring them to life — producers, showrunners, and development executives who are actually building what’s next.

What We’re Building

The You Don’t Need Another Laurel initiative is a curated pipeline for discovering and championing new voices in film and television.
Winning projects receive more than recognition — they receive access, mentorship, and collaboration opportunities directly through House of Velvet’s development and production network.

We’re looking for scripts and proof-of-concept projects that:

• Move us emotionally

• Captivate us intellectually

• Scare us a little

• And make us question life itself

Because that’s what great storytelling does.

• Script-to-screen consultation and strategy sessions

Independent creators seeking representation may only submit through licensed agents, managers, or entertainment attorneys.
